Obituary:
Martha A. D’Andria, 84 of Four Seasons of Wall lived a full and happy life. Born in Brooklyn, NY on November 10, 1926, her parents Alfonse Reymond and Carmela both immigrants from France and Italy raised two children, Martha and her brother Louis. Martha attended Lafayette High School where she excelled in athletics and scholastics. After graduating she attended Fordham University at night while working in Manhattan as an assistant claims adjuster at Mutual of Omaha. Upon completing her studies at Fordham, Martha became one of the first female claims adjusters at the company. She enjoyed riding horses, going to plays, spending time with her beloved cousins on Coney Island. She met her husband Arthur in Brooklyn and has been happily married to him since May 8, 1954.
The couple moved to Bound Brook NJ shortly after being married, where they started the next phase of their life. Martha was an active member of the Rosary society at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. When more and more family members relocated to Somerset County NJ, Martha and Art relocated to Bridgewater shortly after the birth of their son Robert. Upon moving to Bridgewater the couple got involved with Immaculate Conception church and the rosary society there, where they met many friends. Martha fondest memories of Bridgewater were having so many friends and family so close. The couple owned The Back Door Gift shop in Somerville, NJ for almost 20 years where their customers became close friends. Dinners at their home for all the kids in the neighborhood were a daily occurrence.
When Martha and Art sold their gift shop they retired to their summer residence of Avon-By-The-Sea. They enjoyed many good times with friends and family in the back yard grilling tubs of lemon chicken with all of her garden fresh herbs. Summer days on the family Boston Whaler and lazy days on the Washington Ave. beach where her most cherished moments. Family would flock to house in the summer to enjoy her constant hospitality.
With the inability to enjoy retirement, Martha returned to work to JC Penney and Co. in the Monmouth Mall, where she finally retired permanently at the age of 82.
Martha is survived by her husband of 57 years Arthur of Wall; beloved son, Bob D’Andria his wife Theresa and daughter Christie of Manasquan. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law Louis and Audrey Reymond and their son Kevin of Mendham, NJ.
