Obituary:
Marcel C. Martin, 88 of Allenwood passed away on Wednesday February 1 at Geraldine Thompson Care Center with his daughter by his side. Marcel was born and raised in Port Au Prince, Haiti. There he was an engineer and the Director of Public Works in the Northern Province of Haiti. In 1963 he went overseas for the United Nations as a Public Works engineer. As a United Nations engineer he lived in Saudi Arabia then later on in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and constructed the infrastructure of the roads there. He later moved to United States in 1970 and again returned to the service of the United Nations to work in the same capacity in the Ivory Coast, the DRC and Yemen. Marcel lived in Queens NY, then Philadelphia before moving to NJ. Marcel was an engineer for a private company in Philadelphia before his retirement. Marcel was an avid reader who loved to talk about current events. He also loved music, dance and playing bingo.

Marcel was predeceased by his wife Frida Roy Martin in 1987, a sister Therese Colimon and a brother Maurice Martin. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Scott McKinley of Neptune; a grandchild Alister Martin; two brothers Frederic and Jacques Martin both living in Haiti.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday February 3 from 5-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A funeral service will be held Saturday 10 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.
